WHY NUTRITION IS IMPORTANT TO WEIGHT LOSS

Written by Reliv | February 25, 2025

This is going to seem like a *silly* topic on the surface because we all know that nutrition is important to weight loss.

We are told all the time to avoid refined sugars, eat healthy fats, and focus on high protein, high fiber foods… but why? What are the effects on our bodies?

To start- it is true! We do need to focus on healthy, whole, real foods.

When we say “real foods” we mean nutrient-dense foods, foods that lack those icky chemicals and additives, foods that are unprocessed and aren’t riddled with refined sugars.

Each of these things has a massive impact on your body (for better or worse), especially if you are trying to lose weight.

If your goal is to lose weight you need to find the diet plan that works for you. A plan that helps you feel good and maintain motivation.

And let’s be honest- what is more motivating than results?

The obvious, and proven, place to start is filling your diet with real foods.

Here are how real foods and highly processed, sugary foods affect your body.

Processed Foods: These, easily accessible, foods are so low in micronutrients and can increase your risk of certain health problems. Plus, they slow down weight-loss. A low-nutrient diet won’t leave you feeling full, leading you to eat more.

Refined Sugars: These bad boys just do SO little to help keep you feeling full. Plus, a high intake of refined sugar has been shown to increase the production of the hormones that make you feel hungry.

Protein: Everyone has been told they need to focus on eating more protein to lose weight at some point or another. That is because protein is the most important nutrient for fat loss. It helps reduce your hunger, regulate your metabolism and affects the production of weight-regulating hormones.

Fiber: Another biggy! Fiber has so so many benefits for your body, your gut and losing weight. Check out our blog we have that is all about fiber!

There are a million other reasons that a nutrient-dense diet will positively affect your weight! Including, if you are eating a nutrient-dense, real-food diet, you can actually eat more and still lose weight!

Focus on the right foods, and the right amounts of each food, and your weight loss journey will suddenly become more effective and enjoyable!

Don’t let a bad diet be the reason you don’t achieve your goals!
